HIDSON Roy Our neighbour, Roy Hidson, passed away on the 24th May 2023. We've known him for the past 16 years but he has lived on our road almost his entire life, over 80 years. His father was the local milkman and Roy was born less than one hundred yards away from his current home, which he moved into as a baby. He was a pupil at Ambler School, and went on to become a local librarian. He was a man with many interests including local history and architecture and kept himself busy in retirement attending talks at various societies around London. He took himself to these via public transport and was always to be seen on our road heading off to a meeting or a tour or sometimes to a yoga class. He was a fountain of knowledge, especially about the local neighbourhood, and often shared this on the doorstep as he waited for the postman. He enjoyed writing and was the author of many published articles including one on Ambler school. Fiercely independent, he rarely asked for help and continued shopping for himself until he went into hospital. He never wanted to be a bother and remained like this, even when unwell. We will miss him. His funeral will take place on 12 July 2023 at Islington Crematorium at 11am.
