Camden & Islington LGBT History Month is under way and all the community are invited to join the celebrations.

forum+ is very proud to present a fantastic programme of activities and events marking LGBT History Month and exploring local LGBT heritage through exhibitions, book groups, film screenings, spoken word events, history talks and more.

Camden and Islington’s rich LGBT history is being highlighted in this very special collection of activities and events which celebrate the culture, lives and experiences of the local LGBT community. From the forum+ Book Club to Zine Making, from Incite! Poetry to the Lesbian Discussion Group, from Film Screenings to the Loudest Whispers Exhibition, there are still so many festivities to enjoy this February.

The theme for LGBT History Month 2022 is Politics In Art: The Arc Is Long. The theme references art in the national curriculum and is an opportunity to commemorate the many achievements and contributions of LGBT activists and artists. Camden & Islington LGBT History Month is not just a celebration but also an important opportunity to champion inclusion and equality for local LGBT people.

Social isolation, economic uncertainty, and increased anxiety all exacerbate the inequalities and discrimination that some LGBT people may still sadly too often face.

Interacting in-person and online at LGBT History Month events, and throughout the year, is a wonderful way to connect, helping to reduce loneliness, educate others and inspire. We appreciate so much the amazing contribution of so many local individuals and organisations to our programme of events.

forum+ is incredibly lucky to work in Camden and Islington, two boroughs with a long history and commitment to LGBT inclusion. Our commitment throughout LGBT History Month, and always, is to celebrate the achievements, lived experiences and culture of local LGBT people, to collate and share evidence to ensure that LGBT people and our needs are highlighted, and to support victims of homophobic, biphobic or transphobic harassment or hate crime.
