An Islington man is raising money for Mental Health UK by hiking up a mountain, cycling 100 miles and running a half marathon.
Sunny Mahal and 60 of his colleagues from Lloyds Banking Group are hoping to bag £250,000 for the charity at the beginning of next month.
Having completed his first triathlon last year, Sunny’s now planning to hike up Scafell Pike in addition to the cycling and running. He says he wants to raise awareness of the link between mental health and financial problems.
The challenge is called “Fourtitude” – to reflect the fact one in four people experience mental health problems. Not accidentally, four teams will complete the initiative in four days.
“I am ready to take on a new challenge which will test my endurance and physical capabilities,” said Sunny. “I am a positive person so I hope to bring a good spirit to the team and help to keep morale high.”
The initiative is part of the bankers’ two-year charity partnership with Mental Health UK. The firm wants to raise at least £2million a year to launch a Mental Health and Money Advice Service.
