A man has died and another was taken to hospital after a fire on the ground floor of a block of flats.
The blaze destroyed a four-roomed flat in Rotherfield Street, Islington.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to reports of a fire at 12.50am today (Tuesday, January 24).
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man, who was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. Another man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fire was under control by 2.21am. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Islington, Shoreditch and Euston fire stations attended the scene.
A LFB spokesperson said that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
