LFB was called at 4.29am after part of a maisonette flat in a residential block under renovation was damaged by fire.
Around 200 people left the building before firefighters arrived, LFB added.
There were no reports of injuries and the fire was brought under control by 5.09am.
Crews from Stoke Newington, Islington, Shoreditch, Homerton and Bethnal Green fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, LFB added.
