Small businesses in Islington will be able to apply for a discounted membership of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) – giving them access to support and legal advice.
Islington Council has joined forces with the FSB for this opportunity, which seeks to offer relief to businesses after the challenges posed by the pandemic.
These small businesses make up more than 99 per cent of all businesses in Islington, contributing significantly to the local economy.
The discounted two-year membership, subsidised by the council, is part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund's mission to boost local communities and businesses.
The fee reduction will mean sole traders contribute just £50 and companies with 11 to 50 employees paying merely £100 for two years.
Mr Michael Lassman, the FSB London regional chair, said: "FSB is delighted to work in partnership with Islington Council on this new scheme.
"As a small business owner myself, I know how rewarding running a business can be.
Cllr Santiago Bell-Bradford, Islington Council’s executive member for inclusive economy and jobs, said: "Islington is home to a fantastic range of small businesses – they are the backbone of our local economy.
"We are working hard to support these businesses as part of our commitment to a more equal, thriving local economy."
