Another male was injured after a 19-year-old teenager was stabbed to death, prompting police to release statements.

The teenager was pronounced dead on Stroud Green Road at the junction of Tollington Park in Finsbury Park, just after police were called this morning (July 11) at 2.50am.

Much of the end of Tollington Park was shut off, with roadworks already in place across the rest of the street.

But a short distance away at Seven Sisters Road, another crime scene was in place.

The Metropolitan Police said that both the teenager, and another male, were injured at Seven Sisters Road close to Yonge Park before driving to Stroud Green Road and stopping the car.

The injured driver of the car was also taken to hospital for treatment before being discharged.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Kirk, speaking about the 19-year-old, said: “A young man has lost his life in violent circumstances.

"My team are working at pace to establish exactly what has happened so we can give their families the answers they deserve and bring those responsible to justice.

“I would ask anyone who was driving through that route from Seven Sisters Road to Stroud Green Road and Tollington Park to check their dashcam footage.

"Likewise, any residents in the area please get in touch as a matter of urgency if you notice anything out of the ordinary captured by your doorbell camera," he added.

Superintendent Annmarie Cowley, responsible for policing in Islington and Camden, joined DCI Kirk in paying tribute to the man's family.

“My thoughts are with this young man’s family and friends as they struggle to come to terms with their loss," she said.

“I know that news of this incident will cause a lot of concern in the local community. That is of course understandable and I share that concern."

Supt. Cowley also took the opportunity to reassure residents there would be an increased police presence in the area following the incident.

"Residents can expect to see officers in the area over the coming days and I would encourage you to speak with them should you have any concerns."

Brent Naylor, who lives above the Varosi estate agents in Tollington Park, told the Islington Gazette earlier today that he saw the aftermath of the stabbing.

He said: "There was also a youngish man with no shirt on in distress. He was taken to the police van, and given one of those silver blankets over him to keep warm, maybe from shock.”

At the time he was watching TV in the early hours of the morning when he heard some voices outside and a vehicle. 

He added: "I ignored the noise but then just minutes later I heard more commotion and saw flashing blue lights.

"The police and paramedics were on scene very quickly.

"I saw a blue car in the road with its doors open, but wasn't quite sure it was involved or just a unmarked police car.

"The police immediately performed CPR on a man lying on the floor for about 25 minutes. That's where the white tent is."
