A college was briefly locked down after a knife attack near its campus.

Police were called to Camden Road, next to the City and Islington College, after reports of a stabbing on Wednesday (September 11) at 1.25pm.

The Capital City College Group, which runs the college, said that the incident happened outside of its Holloway Road centre.

A spokesperson said: “The site was briefly locked down as a precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff, and it reopened this morning as usual and there are no further concerns regarding student safety.

“We would like to thank our students and staff who acted calmly throughout.”

Emergency services found a man with a hand injury and he was treated at the scene, although his injury is not thought to be serious.

There have been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances continue.
