"Dodgy hot dog dealers" were caught trading at night spots and stations with no hand washing equipment and no licences.
Concerns were raised about the five traders when they were spotted serving hot dogs outside Fabric nightclub, a pub and Farringdon and Angel stations without any hand washing equipment.
Islington Council was alerted to the public health hazard by colleagues from the City of London, and found that the sellers did not possess a valid street trading licence.
They were prosecuted by Islington Council and must pay a total of £3,256 in fines and legal costs after appearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court.
Huseyn Ackcadag, Ali Osman, Mohammad Hasan and Mohamed Abdullah were found guilty of street trading without a licence on September 5.
Another sentence was handed down to Abidin Ceran for the same crimes on October 3.
Cllr John Woolf, executive member for community safety at Islington Council, said: “In the interest of public health and safety, we have put a stop to these dodgy hot dog dealers.
"Islington residents must be able to trust our legal street vendors, which keep our local economy thriving.
"Thanks to cross-borough working and the dedication of our compliance, out of hours and parkguard teams, these offenders have been held accountable.”
