A man has been charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy in Islington. 

Francie McCarthy, 21, of Warrender Road, Tufnell Park is due to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court today (October 26).

He has been charged with the murder of Deonte Mowatt-Slater, who died from fatal stab wounds on October 22. 

The 16-year-old was found by emergency services with injuries in Courtauld Road shortly after midnight with his motorbike.

A post mortem examination carried out on October 25 gave his cause of death as stab injuries. 

His family continues to be supported by specially trained police officers. 

Det Chf Insp Neil John said: “Our thoughts remain with Deonte’s family at this extremely difficult time.

“Officers from the local policing team are continuing to carry out patrols in the area and anyone with concerns should approach them or contact their local neighbourhoods team.”
