The music scene in London is packed with talented up-and-comers creating exciting new songs every day.

In order to foster a collaborative atmosphere and supportive community, Pirate Studios have established three recording studios in North London – music hubs bursting with creative energy in Camden, Dalston and Tottenham. These areas are quickly becoming booming centres for musicians and producers of all stripes.

We speak to Emmavie Mbongo, Pirate Studios' Global Events and Community Manager about the incredible events lined up at their studios, and the unmissable opportunities that frequently arise.

In the early days of a musical career, it can be challenging to find genuine support and feedback on your art. Across 700 studios in several countries, Pirate Studios has built an experienced, tight-knit community of musicians, producers and industry experts. For those starting out on their journey, a better place to hone your craft and learn invaluable lessons will be hard to find!

“In our Camden studio, you’ll find a lively crowd of talented individuals and top-of-the-line recording equipment,” shares Emmavie. “There’s plenty of rehearsal space for bands focusing on live music, a curtained vocal booth for vocal artists and space for any extra equipment you require.

“As well as fantastic facilities, our North London studios are places where like-minded artists can mix freely, collaborate on projects and potentially discover new aspects to their sound!”

Camden is a historic creative hub that is crucial to London’s music scene. R&B, hip hop, pop, rock and indie musicians all have a home at Pirate Studios, and will find a series of amazing workshops and events catered to their needs.

“Our longest-running event is the Open Sessions, a monthly party where anyone can jump on the decks and play a 15-minute set,” reveals Emmavie. “As well as being an opportunity to have a great time and make new friends, it’s a fantastic opportunity to network and test your creative skills.

“So many talented artists attend these events regularly, so it’s a chilled out environment to learn about the music industry. At our Dalston and Tottenham studios, we regularly host beginner workshops and A&R feedback sessions – ideal for musicians taking the first steps into an exciting career!”

As well as being the ideal workspace for London-based creatives, Pirate Studios acts as a hub for securing paid gigs and events. Up and coming talent at Pirate may well find themselves performing at renowned festivals and events in the UK and beyond.

“Pirate has revolutionised networking and artistic growth for independent and emerging artists,” says Kaiya, a singer and songwriter from London. “The welcoming, community-focused environment is unlike anything else in bringing artists together."

Alongside their initiatives to support fully-fledged artists, Pirate Studios are also pitching in to help nurture the next generation of creatives - as well as ensuring that the transformative power of music is available to all.

Together with cultural youth organisation Small Green Shoots, Pirate Studios provide the Studios For All Fund to 120 music charities across the country. The initiative aims to empower these organisations and engage disadvantaged, marginalised and vulnerable individuals through music.
