On Tuesday (November 19) parts of London woke up to snow falling amid a sudden drop in temperatures.

London has been placed with yellow weather warning for ice, lasting from 5pm today until 10am on Wednesday 20 at 10am.

Areas including Bethnal Green, Haringey and more were met with a mix of snow and rain with temperatures at just 3°C.

Unfortunately, it looks like London's snowfall was a one-day special, as the Met Office simply shares "any sleet soon clearing".

Adding that for this evening (Tuesday 19) you can expect a change in weather: "Cloudy evening with outbreaks of rain and drizzle continuing to slowly clear away to the south."

Tomorrow Wednesday 20, the weather will still be cold but you can expect some sunshine: "Feeling cold, but with plenty of sunshine.

"Largely dry, although a few showers may drift across the Isle of Thanet.

"Breezy at times. Overnight frosts. Maximum temperature 4 °C."

Later in the week, you can expect a mix of rain in London, including a very wet and windy Saturday, as the Met Office adds: 

"Cloudier Thursday with outbreaks of rain across southern areas, drier elsewhere. Brighter spells on Friday. Very wet and windy Saturday. Low confidence in the risk of any snow. Overnight frosts."

Yellow weather warning for ice in place for London

The Met Office has placed a yellow weather warning for ice across London meaning that there is a chance of icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

As a Met Office spokesperson shares: "Rain, sleet and snow will continue to clear southwards across England and Wales with clearing skies to follow.

"Temperatures are expected to fall below or close to freezing quite widely across the warning area with icy patches forming on untreated freezing surfaces."

The warning is in place from 5pm today (Tuesday 19) until 10am tomorrow (Wednesday 20).
