One Day author David Nicholls enjoyed a wide-ranging chat about his literary career at his local Oxfam bookshop.
The Highbury-based writer was at the Upper Street's Oxfam Books and Music on Tuesday (November 19) in conversation with BBC Radio presenter Martha Kearney.
This year, Nicholls has seen his early novel Starter for Ten turned into a musical, and his runaway hit One Day become a Netflix series starring Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod.
He also published his latest book You Are Here about a mid-life romance between a duo who meet on a walking holiday.
He said: "It was great being interviewed by Martha in my favourite Oxfam bookshop in Islington. Martha is a news broadcaster who I have long admired."
Martha Kearney, said: "I loved interviewing David, who is one of my favourite authors, and talking to him about You Are Here which I enjoyed enormously".
The event was the first in a series of book talks at the venue, with further names to be announced.
Store manager Rowena Shepherd said: “We’ve had a remarkable 12 years since this store opened and we’re delighted that David Nicholls agreed to come and discuss his work with us, it’s a real honour.
"Our store has thrived thanks to the generosity of local people and all proceeds from the tickets will support Oxfam’s work tackling poverty and inequality around the world."
