It’s rarely quiet in this Library.
The venue, which serves up cocktails and craft beer while hosting live musicians till late, has been a fixture of Upper Street since the 1960s.
“We have the privilege of being in a lively business area so we attract people straight after work,” said George Clark, the bar’s assistant manager.
The décor looks a bit like an antique bookshop, while the upstairs “Reading Room” bar hosts London’s open mic nights every Monday. “It’s incredibly intimate,” said George. “Artists mainly present their own songs and receive honest feedback. We also surprise people with our choice of offering Thai food in a pub. And we expand our cocktail menu every single day.”
The Library has been a draw for art lovers for five decades thanks to its film screenings and exhibitions. High-profile comedians like Mark Dolan and Tom Stade have played there, too.
Every other Tuesday the venue hosts an acoustic night – which can stretch to four hours. “You really get good vibes while meeting London’s best international talents,” said George.
