A Tufnell Park moped robber was today jailed for two years and eight months.
Tyler House, 19, of Dalmeny Road, was on a stolen moped with accomplice Osita Okoli on July 6 last year. They threatened a man with hammers and stole his watch in Crawford Place, off Edgware Road in Westminster.
Members of the public intervened. The pair discarded the stolen moped and fled on foot. Police seized the moped and recovered clothing from under the seat. Okoli and House were identified by forensic evidence and arrested two months later.
At Southwark Crown Court earlier this month, House had already admitted robbery and a moped-enabled snatch offence. Okoli, of Soho, has also been sentenced – for seven years.
Det Cons Sara Keane said: “These offenders rely on the unwariness of the public to snatch their possessions, so it is so important that the people are aware of their surroundings at all times and protect their personal property.”
