City and Islington College has launched an investigation after three huge brawls broke out around Angel station this week.
In footage obtained by the Gazette, swarms of young people – mainly girls – are seen in violent punch-ups.
A source claimed they were wearing City and Islington College lanyards. Staff at the college, in Goswell Road, are probing the footage.
The first video was reportedly taken at the top of Goswell Road on Tuesday, just up the road from the college. After police arrive, a glass battle is thrown into the fray and smashes on the ground.
The second is said to have been filmed in Upper Street, near NatWest, on Wednesday. Stunned shoppers are seen watching as the brawl spills into the middle of the road, while cars and vans held up by the commotion blare their horns. Amid the punching, a girl can be heard screaming: “Bash her up.”
Meanwhile, a chair is thrown and lands in the road to screams.
The third video, also taken on Wednesday, shows another brawl outside Daily Grind cafe in Duncan Street, just off Upper Street.
A City and Islington spokeswoman said this afternoon: “We are aware that there have been incidents of anti-social behaviour involving young people in the Upper Street area. We are investigating whether our students have been directly involved and breached our student code of conduct.
“If the latter proves to be the case we will take appropriate action using our student disciplinary procedures. Without exception, we expect all of our students to adhere to an agreed code of conduct which sets a high standard of behaviour inside and outside the college.”
A Met spokesman said no injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made so far.
On Wednesday, another brawl, said to have involved 15 people, took place in Hornsey Road, Holloway. As reported in the Gazette, a 16-year-old boy suffered facial injuries after being hit with a stick. A 47-year-old man was arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
