British Transport Police have appealed for information after a 61-year-old woman was racially abused at Highbury and Islington station.
At about 8.30pm on October 1, the woman left a Victoria line northbound train when an unknown man shouted racially offensive language at her.
She turned to face him and asked if he was talking to her. He then shouted more racial abuse.
An image of a man wanted in connection with the incident was released yesterday. PC Amir Darvish said: “Everyone has the right to travel without being abused for who they are. We simply will not standby and allow people to use threatening or intimidating language towards other passengers.
“I am very keen to hear from anyone who might have information on this incident. Did you witness it, or do you recognise the man we would like to speak with? Please get in touch.”
Anyone with any information is asked to text British Transport Police on 61016, or call 0800 405040 quoting reference 290 of October 31. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
