A BURGLAR who stole �2,000 of stock from a trendy Islington boutique has been spared jail.

George Adams cut through metal security bars and forced open a rear window in order to break into Zee & Co in Upper Street.

The 21-year-old, of Milne Square, Finsbury, then proceeded to help himself to �2,000 of stock.

Police managed to track Adams down through DNA evidence collected from the scene.

On Thursday, Adams admitted a charge of burglary at Blackfriars Crown Court. It was his first criminal offence.

Adams was handed a six-month sentence suspended for two years. He was also given a one-year supervision order, told to complete 140 hours unpaid work and pay �1,980 compensation.

Detective Constable Phil Redmond, of Islington police, who investigated the January 17 burglary, said: “This sentence sends a clear message that the criminal justice system will clamp down on burglars and hold them accountable. This is Adam’s first conviction and shows that no-one is above the law.”
