Brondesbury captain James Overy says the away match at Finchley is a must-win bottom of the table clash.
Overy and his side will make the short trip to East End Road on Saturday as they look to build on going two games unbeaten in the league which has given them hope of avoiding relegation.
“We know we have to win the game. They’re down the bottom with us. A draw isn’t going to help them and it’s not going to help us either,” Overy said.
“Hopefully that sets up quite an exciting fixture, hopefully there is a winner, and hopefully it’s us – obviously.
“We’re excited, they’re a good side, they gave us a very good game in the first fixture at the start of the season. They’re not to be taken lightly. No one is given our position in the league.”
They nabbed a draw with title-chasing Teddington last weekend having lost the toss and being put in to bat first where they scored 222-7 with captain Overy (125) leading the charge with good support from Anthony Wilkinson (23) and Alex Shoff (18).
They then restricted their opponents to 167-8 with Nayan Doshi (7-79) standing out with the ball for the visitors.
“We were really pleased the week before to get a win and it felt like we went into the game with the right attitude and we played a positive enough game of cricket to try getting a victory.
“There was a bit of rain around, obviously losing the toss made it tricky, but I was really proud of the boys that with 12 overs to go there was only one team that could win that match and it was us.
“We were pleased with that as Teddington are trying to win the league and we find ourselves at the other end so that is a good sign. Hopefully we can build some momentum from here.”
He added: “Team wise and personally we haven’t done very well with the bat so to be able to get some runs on the board as a team was really important.
“I was extremely pleased myself for being able to get a score as I've had a lean period with the bat this season.
“You get concerned that the runs aren’t going to come so to get a big score was good and put the team in a good position. Disappointing it wasn’t in a match winning performance though.”
