Arsenal midfielder Mana Iwabuchi has joined north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on loan for the rest of the season.
Iwabuchi had limited game-time at Arsenal this campaign making just three appearances in the Women’s Super League.
The Japanese international signed for the Gunners in 2021 following a spell with Aston Villa and on signing for Spurs, told the club website: “I’m very excited to be here.
“Rehanne Skinner told me about our ambitions, so I’m very excited to join our journey.
“I’m an intelligent player, I bring that on the pitch for the team and try to contribute.”
The Tokyo-born midfielder began her career at the age of 14 at Nippon TV Beleza in Japan in 2007, and was named their best young player in 2008, before making the move to German side 1899 Hoffenheim four years later.
Her four goals in the 2012/13 season helped her side win promotion to the Bundesliga, and she was pivotal in them avoiding relegation the following year.
Following her spell at Hoffenheim she went to Bayern Munich where she played with Arsenal superstar Vivianne Miedema.
On the international stage, she has scored 37 goals in 85 games for Japan, five of which came during the Nadeshiko's 2011 World Cup win against the USA in Germany.
In 2012, Iwabuchi helped her nation to a silver medal at the London Olympics, before she also helped them to gold at the Asian Games and AFC Women's Asian Cup in 2018.
Tottenham are currently eighth in the table following a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, however Beth England made a positive impact on her Spurs debut as she opened the scoring.
