The North East London Cricket League saw Bloomsbury Royals edge I Don’t Like Cricket in a crucial match at London Fields.
IDLC shrugged off the early loss off Ross Legg in the opening over to nudge their way to 60-1, with their youngest and oldest players - Fin Baker-Howard and Rahul Misra - sharing a solid stand to swing the pendulum back towards the batters.
But two consecutive wicket maidens from Syed pulled Bloomsbury back into the match and wickets continued to tumble before John Ashton scored a crucial 24 late on to help IDLC reach 122 all out, with Syed claiming 3-28.
Bloomsbury slipped to 50-5, with pace bowler Al Collins (4-32) wrecking havoc and producing a superb yorker to remove Symon Faraji.
And it took a patient 30 from Md Shahin as Bloomsbury claimed a fine victory in tense finale.
Meanwhile, Old Summervillians saw off Stamford Hill at Millfields.
Stamford Hill were bowled out for 134, with Altaf Hasan (41) top scoring, and Old Summervillians chased it down in 19.5 overs as Luke Beckett hit an unbeaten 52.
It was an early night for defending champions St Clements at Springfield as they bowled out Camels for 75, chasing it down with the loss of five wickets.
Summer (36) led the way for Camels, alongside 15 from Gideon Bambosa, before a superb spell from skipper Afghan Khan.
Khan ripped through the batting, removing both and finishing with 6-8 from just five overs as the Camels lost the last six wickets for just five runs.
In reply, Kit Caless produced a fine bowling display to take 3-10 as the Camels rallied early on.
However, 28 from opener Arsalan and an unbeaten 23 by bowling hero Khan sealed victory for St Clements.
