The Premier League title race is going down to the final day with Arsenal trailing Manchester City by two points.
Leandro Trossard's goal earned the Gunners a 1-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday, but City beat Tottenham 2-0 on Tuesday night, after a late scare.
Erling Haaland put them ahead early in the second half, but substitute goalkeeper Stefan Ortega had to produce late saves to deny the hosts, before a late penalty sealed the points.
So the destination of the silverware goes down to the final game. And the title is in City’s hands for a fourth successive season, as they now have a cushion at the top of the table.
The Gunners host a resolute Everton side who sit in 15th place with nothing to play for, but have amassed the second-most clean sheets this season behind Mikel Arteta's men.
Typically, on the final day of the season, teams in this position are ‘on the beach’ but Toffees boss Sean Dyche may have other ideas.
City, on the other hand, entertain ninth-placed West Ham, who also have nothing to play for, at the Etihad.
However, it will be David Moyes’ last game as Hammers manager having led them to a European trophy last season, so perhaps the players will give him a special send-off.
If Arsenal win and City don’t, Arteta’s side will lift the trophy. Anything other than an Arsenal win - or if City win - then Pep Guardiola's men will be crowned again.
Arteta has named the same team for the last four league games so it’d be a huge shock to see it change so, barring an unexpected twist.
David Raya, Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard will be the players to try and bring home Arsenal’s first Premier League title on the 20-year anniversary of the Invincible campaign.
If all goes to plan for Arsenal, a victory parade would start on Monday (May 20) at 5pm, taking the team from Emirates Stadium towards Upper Street, along Aubert Grove, Highbury Grove and St Paul’s Road before circling back and ending at the stadium at around 8pm.
Regardless of what happens, it’s been an incredible season, beating Manchester City and Liverpool in the league, reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and winning the Community Shield.
