The number of Arsenal women’s matches played at the Emirates is set to almost double next season.
The club announced yesterday (May 14) that the stadium would host eight Women’s Super League (WSL) matches during the 24/25 season.
Three Women’s Champions League home games would also come to N5 if the team qualifies for the group stages of the competition, bringing the total to 11.
Only six WSL matches were played at the stadium during the most recent season.
If Arsenal progress beyond the group stages of the tournament, all home legs in knock-out rounds would be played at the Emirates.
All of next season’s remaining games will be played at the women’s team’s long-standing host venue – Mangata Pay UK Stadium in Meadow Park, Borehamwood.
The decision to increase the number of matches at the Emirates comes after the average WSL match hosted at the stadium last season drew a crowd of 52,029 fans.
This included two sell-out matches and three WSL attendance records.
Islington Council leader Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz has said she is “delighted” by the decision, and would be keeping those living near the stadium updated about the impact of the extra matches.
Arsenal CEO Vinai Venkatesham said: “The next step in our journey is to make Emirates Stadium our main home for Arsenal Women.
“We’re looking forward to giving more supporters the chance to watch our women’s team play.”
